Amsted-Rail LLC, an American - Ukrainian joint venture, was established in 2004.


Amsted-Rail LLC specializes in the production of parts that are made of high-strength steels and ductile cast iron, subjected to austempering, which is an isothermal heat treating process that produces a bainite microstructure. The enterprise also manufactures parts of various steels and alloys by combining sheet-metal stamping and hardening operations, and performs various heat treating operations, including among them annealing and normalization.


For many years, the company has been producing units of friction shock absorbers for freight and passenger car bogies, constant contact side bearings, friction units of the suspension system of locomotives, and parts for farming and earthmoving equipment.

In order to succeed as a manufacturer of high-quality and competitive products, the company cooperates with a number of the research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine: the Institute for Metal Physics and Alloys (Kyiv), Iron and Steel Institute (Dnipro), the Institute of Technical Mechanics (ITM) of the National Academy of Sciences, the State Space Agency of Ukraine, the Institute for Problems of Materials Science, V. Lazatyan Dnipropetrovsk National University of Railway Transport (DIIT), and the Ukrainian Research Institute of Car Building (UkrNIIV), as well as with a number of North American companies that produce products for freight car building.
